DAY 2
- PHOENIX / TUCSON - 149

Enter
the saguaro cactus forest along Bayous Butte and Spring mountain
down to Tucson. Rising like a mirage from the desert, this
former capital of Arizona boasts one of the wildest historeis
of the West. We recommend you spend the afternoon going to
Old Tucson Studios, founded in 1939 by Columbia. Western fans
will not want to miss the location of such stars as John Wayne,
Burt Lancaster, Paul Newman, Charles Bronson and Clint Eastwood.
Feel free to explore Tucson in the evening.

DAY 3
- TUCSON / TOMBSTONE - 172 miles

day 3 takes you to San Xavier Brac Mission,
without a doubt one of the most magnificent examples. of Spanish
colonial times.
We continue to Tumacacari and the follow the
Mexican border through the Patagonia Mountain.
After a mining
ghost town you will come to Bisbee, the largest copper and turquoise
open-air mine in the 50s. Spend the afternoon in Tombstone with
its authentic Western atmosphere and the famous OK Corral.

4 - TOMBSTONE / GALLUP - 291 miles |

Head north through a valley
to Coronado National Forest, across the San Carlos Reservation
through Salt River Canyon, and Fort Apache to arrive at the
Petrified Forest in the Painted Desert.
After driving through
lunar like landscape, continue to Gallup, New Mexico on historic
Route 66.

- GALLUP / ALBUQUERQUE - 161 miles

Cross
the ancient Native hunting grounds of the Cibola national Forest,
to reach Acoma Pueblo, also called Sky City, the oldest inhabited
pueblo.
Visit San Jose Mission and San Augustin Mission before
arriving in Albuquerque, a city with curious mix of Native American
and Mexican cultures found nowhere else.

- ALBUQUERQUE / TAOS - 135 miles

Take the winding Turquoise Trail
through the Sandria and Ortiz Mountain to the colorful town of Madrid.
Believe yourself in another time in the historic town of Cerrilos before
heading into magnificent Santa Fe.
Pass the missions of San Idelfonso and
Santa Clara along the Rio Grande on the way to Taos for the evening.

the adobe construction and central plaza of Taos Pueblo.

crossing 600 feet above the Rio Grande, head through aspen and
pine forest to Chama and its rail station from the 1900s.

Papago Spring and the San Juan Forest awaits Mesa Verde in Colorado.

The road
past Shiprock and the red sandstone Mitten Rock brings you through
Lukachukai at the Defiance Plateau.
Driving through the Canyon
de Chelly with it's 1000 foot red-rock cliffs, you feel the blend
of nature and legends, culture and history.

with a fabulous sunset (weather permitting) over Monument Valley.

the Kaibito Plateau to Page and the impressive Lake Powell.

road off the beaten path takes you to the most beautiful secluded

road to Route 66 and Flagstaff, to enjoy the old town center.
